What Happens In Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 45 to 60. When glaucoma develops, there are no initial symptoms and the disease progresses slowly. In this way glaucoma slowly steals your sight. It is estimated that 5 million people have glaucoma, but only half of them know they have glaucoma. , this condition occurs as a result of increased intramuscular tension sufficiently persistent or intermittent to damage the retina and optic nerve.

In the eye, a clear fluid called aqueous humor circulates inside the front part of the eye.

The eye constantly produces aqueous humor to keep the eyes healthy while the same amount of this fluid flows through your eyes.
If you have glaucoma, the aqueous humor doesn’t flow properly through the eye, causing increased intramuscular pressure and damage to the optic nerve

There will be loss of peripheral vision and then loss of central vision leading to blindness with or without pain.

Glaucoma according to DAD Ayurveda.

The concept of glaucoma, which has emerged recently according to Ayurveda, is very similar to those held in the Adhimantha. Hyperthyroidism is a dreadful disease characterized by severe, excruciating pain in the eyes with headache, progressive decrease in vision over a short period of time, and severe congestion.

According to Ayurveda, Atimantha disease occurs when the patient consumes excessively hot, spicy, pungent food, abuses and overuses the eyes, is repeatedly exposed to very bright light during night shifts. Causes more stress and anger. All these factors will disturb the basic elements of the body called Vata and Pitta, leading to blockage of channels and clogging of channels in the head which eventually settles in the eyes in the form of Epimetheus/Glaucoma.

What can Ayurveda do?

Ayurveda can manage this condition very well. The primary process should be to clear the blockage of the channels and detoxify the body. This will promote easy and smooth flow of aqueous humour. Along with this, local eye treatment will be given to reduce the pain. All these together will bring the eye pressure under control. Therefore it will arrest and regenerate the optic nerve.
