Fibroid Uterus
Fibroid Uterus is a non-cancerous (benign) tumor that originates in the uterus.
What is Fibroid Uterus?
They are benign tumors that arise from the endometrium of the uterus. They can be located in the wall, outside the wall of the uterus, in the muscles under the lining of the uterus, or in the neck of the cervix. They are present during pregnancy or disappear after pregnancy as the uterus returns to its normal size.
Signs and symptoms of fibroid uterus:
When they are small in size they are asymptomatic.
- There may be painful and heavy bleeding during menstruation.
- The abdomen may become large and bloated.
- back pain
- Frequent urination due to bladder pressure.
- Painful intercourse and painful defecation.
- It can cause miscarriage, bleeding and premature labor, and in some cases infertility is rarely seen.
How do Fibroid Uterus occur?
The main cause is not yet recognized, but hormonal imbalance especially estrogen hormone is one of the main causes. Estrogen levels increase during pregnancy so it increases in size and shrinks after pregnancy and after menopause.
